GD Foundry – Font License Agreement
Short Version of EULA (for humans)
Thank you for choosing GD Foundry. This License Agreement (“Agreement”) is made between
you (the “Licensee”) and Gärde Design AB (“GD Foundry,” “we,” or “us”).
By purchasing, downloading, installing, or otherwise using our digital typeface software (the
“Fonts”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms
of this Agreement.
If you do not accept these terms in full, please do not install or use the Fonts.
Below you’ll find the full license terms written in clear, plain language for transparency and ease
of understanding.
Subject to your compliance with this Agreement, GD Foundry grants you a non-exclusive, nontransferable,
and revocable license to use the Fonts as outlined below.
This license may be terminated immediately if any of the terms in this Agreement are breached.
What You Can and Cannot Do
You own the right to use, not the font itself. You’re buying a license, like renting a beautiful tool, not the hammer factory.
You can:
- Install and use the fonts on your own devices.
- The number of permitted installations depends on your license size (based on company
employee count). - Share the fonts with collaborators or contractors who work directly for you. They must delete
the fonts once their work for you is completed. - Use the fonts in designs, logos, PDFs, videos, websites, and apps, according to your license
type. - Convert text to outlines for use in print, logos, or other vector artwork.
- Create personal or student projects freely if using a “trial” or “student” version of the fonts.
- Enjoy full usage rights — web, app, and desktop — under a single unified license, determined
solely by your company size.
You can’t:
- Share or sell the font files.
- Upload them to public servers or online generators.
- Modify or rebuild them into a new font.
- Use them in illegal, hateful, or political propaganda.
- Claim ownership of the Fonts — you are licensing the right to use them, not purchasing the font itself.
If you grow — great!
Simply upgrade your license to match your new team size, or choose a license that allows for growth from the start. We’ll always keep it fair, simple, and transparent.
Ownership
- GD Foundry retains ownership of the font software.
- You retain full rights to all work you create using the font.
Showcasing Work
- We may showcase your work (with credit) to illustrate real-world use of our typefaces. You can opt out of this at any time.
Enterprise Use
- Applies to companies with over 200 employees, or projects involving hardware embedding, large-scale distribution, or global campaigns.

1. Grant of License & Ownership
1.1 License Grant
Subject to your compliance with this Agreement, GD Foundry grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Fonts for both web, app and desktop purposes. All usage rights are included in a single package and determined solely by the size of your company, based on the number of employees as defined in the applicable license tier. This license may be terminated if you breach any of the terms of this Agreement.
1.2 Ownership
The Fonts remain the exclusive property of GD Foundry, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. No ownership or title is transferred to you.
1.3 Scope
Your permitted uses are limited to what is expressly granted under your license. Any use beyond that scope requires an additional or upgraded license or a special agreement.
2. License Types & Usage Rights
Simple, Fair Licensing.
2.1 License Tiers
GD Foundry offers a single, all-inclusive license that covers Desktop, Web, and App/Game use.
2.2 Company-Size Pricing
Licensing is based solely on the size of your company, determined by the number of employees. If your needs evolve or your company grows, GD Foundry will help you upgrade your license tier accordingly to ensure continued compliance and flexibility.
2.3 Unlimited / Custom Licensing
For enterprise use — companies with over 200 employees, or projects involving hardware embedding, large-scale distribution, or global campaigns — we offer custom licensing agreements. We’re happy to tailor a solution that reflects the scope and scale of your usage. Contact us at type@gardedesign.se to discuss the details.
2.4 Licenses are non-refundable once the font files have been downloaded.
3. Authorized Use & Restrictions
Your Rights
3.1 Contractors & Third Parties
You may provide the Fonts to third parties (e.g. external designers, contractors) strictly for the performance of work on your behalf, and only to the extent needed to complete the work. After their task is done, they must permanently remove all copies of the Fonts. You are responsible for ensuring that any third party acting on your behalf complies with these terms.
3.2 Embedding & Streaming
Embedding, rasterizing, or streaming (e.g. in video or server-side rendering) is allowed only if your license explicitly includes those rights. For embedding in hardware or firmware, a special license is required.
3.3 Modification & Reverse Engineering
You may convert glyphs to outlines or curves (e.g. for print or design). However, you may not alter the underlying font files, reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive source code, merge, or embed the font in unauthorized ways.
3.4 Prohibited Uses
You may not:
- Sell, rent, lease, sublicense, redistribute, lend, or otherwise make the Fonts available to third parties, except as allowed in section 3.1
- Use the Fonts to promote violence, hate speech, discrimination, or other unlawful content
- Use the Fonts for political campaigning or endorsement without prior written permission
- Use the Fonts in a manner that violates applicable laws, regulation, or third-party rights
4. Trial & Educational Use
4.1 Trial Versions
Any trial or demo version of a Font is provided for internal evaluation, testing, or pitch purposes only. You may not use trial fonts in published, commercial, or client-facing work unless you first acquire the appropriate license. Trial Fonts may contain limitations such as incomplete character sets or altered metrics.
4.2 Student / Noncommercial Use
Students may use the Fonts for noncommercial academic projects or personal learning, unless prohibited by the specific license terms. However, any commercial or client work requires a full license.
5. Marketing, Attribution & Showcasing
5.1 Showcasing Your Work
By using our Fonts, you grant GD Foundry the right to showcase (with attribution) your published or publicly displayed works for marketing or promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be featured, notify us in writing (e.g. email) within 10 days of your purchase.
5.2 Attribution
While not required, we appreciate attribution (e.g. “Typeface: [FontName] by GD Foundry”) when feasible.
6. Term, Termination & Remedies
6.1 Term
This Agreement takes effect upon your acceptance and continues until terminated.
6.2 Termination
GD Foundry may terminate or suspend your license immediately if you breach any term of this Agreement. Upon termination, you must delete all copies of the Fonts from all devices, cloud storage, and backups (except where outlines were created lawfully).
6.3 Survival
Provisions concerning ownership, termination, disclaimers, liability limitations, and governing law survive termination.
7. Warranty Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
7.1 “As-Is” Warranty
Except where prohibited by law, the Fonts are provided “as-is,” without any warranties, whether express or implied (including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement).
7.2 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GD Foundry (and its affiliates or licensors) shall not be liable for any indirect, special, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages (including loss of profits or business interruption), arising out of or related to the Fonts or this Agreement—even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. In jurisdictions that disallow such limitations, our liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the license.
8. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GD Foundry (and its employees, affiliates, licensors) from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, or costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your breach of this Agreement or commercial misuse of the Fonts in violation of this Agreement or applicable laws.
9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
This Agreement is governed by and construed under the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any disputes arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the Fonts shall be resolved in the courts of Stockholm (or another venue if we mutually agree) in English or Swedish.
10. Miscellaneous
10.1 Entire Agreement
This Agreement supersedes and replaces all prior or contemporaneous understandings or agreements regarding its subject matter.
10.2 Severability
If a court finds any provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
10.3 Waiver
No waiver of any breach or right under this Agreement shall be effective unless in writing and signed by the party against whom the waiver is sought.
10.4 Amendments
We may update this Agreement occasionally (for clarity, legal changes, or business evolution). If we make material changes, we’ll notify you (e.g. email or via our website). Continued use of the Fonts after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
